How We Power the Northshore

The Harbor Center is a political subdivision of the state, funded through a combination of dedicated tax revenue and operational income.

How The Harbor Center is Funded

The Harbor Center operates as a unique, multi-faceted entity designed to drive economic growth and enhance the quality of life for residents. Understanding how The Harbor Center is funded involves a strategic blend of public investment, operational revenue, and community support.

As a government-backed conference center in Louisiana, our financial model ensures that the facility remains a state-of-the-art asset for St. Tammany Parish while maintaining fiscal responsibility. As a vital engine for economic development, we occasionally receive state-level support for major capital improvements and infrastructure projects.

How Taxes & Revenue Affect The Harbor Center

The Hotel/Motel Tax (47%)

This tax is a dedicated $2 per night tax paid by visitors staying in local hotels..

It ensures that visitors to our area help maintain the facility, not just local residents.

Operational Revenue (29.4%)

St. Tammany Fund (18.1%)

Operational Revenue is generated by renting the space and collecting service fees.

This allows the Center to reinvest in technology and amenities to stay competitive.

Pass Through Income (5.9%)

We receive 9% of a dedicated state funding stream called the St. Tammany Parish Fund. These are funds from the State of Louisiana and are distributed to local organizations.

During the course of normal business, we collect pass-through income from clients that is immediately paid out to third-party vendors. These expenses include services such as security and table linens.

The Economic Impact The Harbor Center Provides for the Northshore
